Welsh songstress DUFFY has revealed that she was thrown out of her school choir for singing too loudly.
The singer, whose single MERCY held the number one spot in the UK chart for eight weeks, told reporters: "I was thrown out because I didn't fit in. I was really loud. I've always struggled with that actually."
DUFFY is currently performing in the US, where her soulful tunes are proving a hit with audiences.
The 23-year-old recently wowed a New York crowd with a performance at the Apollo concert hall.
Meanwhile, the songstress's former boyfriend, Wakestock Festival organiser Mark Durston, has said that he is looking forward to her performing at this year's event.
The Daily Post reports that the pair's relationship ended amid claims that Mark had cheated.
DUFFY, whose real name is AIMEE DUFFY, will perform in front of some 50,000 fans at the three-day music and wakeboarding event on the Lln peninsula in July.
MARK RONSON, GROOVE ARMADA and THE HAPPY MONDAYS will also take to the stage.
