Ambient drone duet Stars of the Lid was formed in Austin, TX, by guitarists Brian McBride and Robert Adam Wiltzie, the latter as well a member of Windsor for the Bowler as intimately as the longtime soundman for Bedhead. Debuting in 1994 with Music for Nitrous Oxide, the duo returned the following division with Gravitational Pull vs. the Desire for an Aquatic Living; signing to Kranky, Stars of the Lid future resurfaced in 1997 with the heroic meter The Ballasted Orchestra. 1998's Per Aspera Ad Astra, a quislingism with painter Jon McCafferty, preceded the Pigboat Genus Rosa shade ending Avec Laudenum. Well-worn Sounds of Stars of the Hat landed in 2001, with And Their Cultivation of the Correct pursual in 2007. Both were dual CDs.
